ESD Alumna Rachel Singer-Davis ‘08 and Husband David Davis Jr. Honor ESD Education with Endowment Gift
April 24, 2025
The Episcopal School of Dallas is pleased to announce the establishment of a new endowment fund created by alumna Rachel Singer-Davis and her husband, David Davis Jr. Inspired by Rachel’s transformative experience at ESD, which began in the first grade, the couple’s gift underscores their commitment to the school’s continued success and its ambitious strategic plan, ESD 2030.
Rachel’s journey through ESD provided her with an exceptional education and a strong sense of community. “I saw firsthand the power of an ESD education and the ESD community,” Rachel shared. “From an ESD classmate who became my roommate and sorority sister at SMU, to a bridesmaid at my wedding, I have created lifelong bonds with some of my ESD classmates. My time at ESD and the teachers I had instilled my love of learning, allowing me to achieve my dream of becoming a teacher, and later returning to study educational leadership.”
Driven by their desire to ensure that future students benefit from the same high-quality education, Rachel and David were drawn to the idea of creating a named endowment. “We wanted to help ensure ESD’s continued success and work towards ESD 2030 goals,” the couple explained. “We like the idea that we could create a named endowment that we could add to later or have friends and family add to, as well as an opportunity to have an ongoing impact.”
Their decision was further solidified after speaking with ESD’s Chief Advancement Officer, Denis Stokes. “He relayed the goal of increasing faculty compensation and funding distinctive academic programming – both of which we wanted to help contribute to,” Rachel and David stated. “We want the ESD community to continue to thrive and be able to attract and retain the best educators to support students throughout their time at ESD, as well as provide students unique learning experiences.”
Rachel encourages fellow alumni and members of the ESD community to consider the power of endowment giving. “Establishing an endowment provides a unique opportunity to create a lasting legacy and directly contribute to the long-term strength and vitality of ESD,” she said. “Knowing that our gift will help attract dedicated teachers and provide enriching programs for future generations is incredibly meaningful.”
The Rachel Singer-Davis '08 and David Davis Jr. Permanent Endowment will play an important role in supporting ESD’s strategic priorities, ensuring the school can attract and retain talented faculty and develop innovative academic programs. This commitment marks a significant step in securing ESD’s future and underscores the profound connection between the school and its alumni.
The Our Time to Soar campaign is inspired by the strategic plan ESD 2030, which aims to add significantly to the school’s endowment, all as further investment in ESD’s people and programs. To date, we have raised $37,000,000 toward our goal of $50,000,000.
